Charles is our national coordinator. In this role, he is the main driver of our joint project: the construction of the new noma centre at National Hospital Abuja. Charles knows the hospital like the back of his hand: before his recent retirement from the civil service, he was head of oral and maxillofacial surgery there - and thus very familiar with noma. "Even as a young doctor, I saw noma cases in northern Nigeria and it has been close to my heart ever since to be able to help these children," says the father of four, who also wants to drive research into the causes of the disease. "I am happy to be on board!"
