NANI IN BRIEF
Noma Aid Nigeria Initiative (NANI) was established under Nigerian law as an incorporated trust in March 2020 and registered under CAC/IT/NO 146547 with the Corporate Affairs Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 27, 2020. NANI is a not-for-profit organization that aims to work towards the following goals:
Help in Nigeria’s fight against the disease noma, specifically by treating noma patients and the disease’s after-effects.
Carry out scientific research into the causes and prevention of noma in Nigeria and the work of public relations with the aim of raising awareness about the situation of noma children and the necessary support measures.
Enhance medical research activities into the causes of noma in Nigeria by providing research grant support to experienced/established academic medical staff/ researchers at various medical schools, to undertake high quality research that has the potential to impact positively on knowledge and practice of medicine in Nigeria.
Align and partner when necessary with alike organizations and individuals.
To this end, NANI works closely with the Federal Ministry of Health; the Nigerian country office of the World Health Organization; and the National Hospital in Abuja, where NANI’s proposed noma treatment center is located. NANI also cooperates closely and receives financial support from Germany-based Hilfsaktion Noma e.V., the world’s largest organization dedicated exclusively to the fight against noma.
